❄️ Driving in Luxembourg this winter: what you need to know

Winter is approaching, and with it more slippery roads and lower temperatures.
In Luxembourg, winter tyres are compulsory as soon as winter conditions are present cold, snow, ice or sleet.
🕓 When should they be installed?
Although the law refers to «winter conditions» and not to a specific date, the authorities recommend fitting winter tyres from 1 October to 31 March approximately: when the temperature drops below 7°C, your summer tyres are no longer enough.
⚠️ Without winter tyres, you risk :
A fine up to 74 €
A increased responsibility in the event of an accident
A reduced compensation by insurance

🧰 Luxauto tips for a worry-free winter
✅ Check the pressure and depth of your tyres - they're your best weapon when the temperature drops.
✅ Test your windscreen wipers and lights (headlights, indicators, stop lights) before the cold weather sets in: visibility counts double.
✅ Check the battery, oil, antifreeze and windscreen washer fluid levels.
✅ Keep in your boot: scraper, gloves, blanket.
✅ Before any long journey, do a complete check-up: tyres, fluids, visibility, equipment... it's better to be prepared.
