Which new cars will dominate the Luxembourg market in 2025?

The year 2025 confirms the major orientations of the Luxembourg car market. Registration figures show that the sector is stable overall, driven by strong choices in terms of brands, segments and engine types.

According to official Société nationale de circulation automobile (SNCA), 47,161 new cars were put into circulation in the Grand Duchy in 2025, representing a annual growth of 1.1 %. A moderately positive result, observed at a time when the’Autofestival traditionally marked the start of the automotive year in Luxembourg.

Most-registered makes: German supremacy confirmed

An analysis of new registrations once again highlights a feature that is unique to Luxembourg: the high number of new registrations. the central role played by German manufacturers. In 2025, they will once again top the rankings.

With 5,838 vehicles registered, Volkswagen remains the benchmark for the Luxembourg market. Even with a slight downturn compared with 2024 (-1.6 1TP3Q), the brand maintains a significant lead over its competitors.

At the back, BMW total 5,204 registrations. The Bavarian brand fell back slightly (-4.1 %), but remains firmly established in second place for several years.

Mercedes-Benz posted a marked improvement in its performance. With 4,347 new registrations, the brand recorded growth of +12,3 %, its best result since 2021.

Just after this trio, Audi is almost perfectly stable with 3,430 vehicles, while Skoda reaches a symbolic milestone. For the first time, the Czech brand has exceeded the 3,000 registrations per year, confirming its growing appeal in the Luxembourg market.

A Top 10 marked by major changes

Other brands stand out for their contrasting trajectories:

• Renault 2,336 registrations, an increase of 12,6 %
• Ford 1,906 vehicles, with a spectacular increase of +70,9 %, thanks in particular to a very dynamic fourth quarter
• Peugeot 1,839 registrations, down from 3,8 %
• Kia and Hyundai complete the Top 10, confirming the strength of South Korean brands

Conversely, the figures confirm a sharp fall in Tesla. The American manufacturer recorded a registrations down by more than 45 %, despite the introduction of the new Model Y on the Luxembourg market.

Chinese manufacturers: slower growth

After two years of strong growth, the momentum of the Chinese car brands slows down in 2025 :

• 1.203 Chinese cars registered
• Growth limited to +9 %, compared with +42 % the previous year

The most popular models come mainly from MG, BYD and Omoda, which recently entered the Luxembourg market.

Prestige cars: a discreet but very present segment

Although they represent modest volumes, the luxury brands continue to feature prominently in the statistics:

• Ferrari 101 registrations
• Lamborghini : 76
• Aston Martin : 44
• Maserati : 35
• Jaguar, Bentley, Lotus, Rolls-Royce, Pagani and Dallara complete the picture
