The 1941 model year marked an important turning point for Cadillac. With the LaSalle marque discontinued, the Series 61 returned as Cadillac’s entry into the prestigious American luxury-car market, carrying the engineering and refinement for which the brand had become famous.

Its fastback Sedanette body is one of the most distinctive designs of the period. The sweeping roofline, sculpted fenders and bold front grille reflect the streamlined Art Deco influences of late-1930s and early-1940s American design. Today, these pre-war proportions give the car a presence that modern vehicles simply cannot reproduce.

Under the hood lies Cadillac’s celebrated 346 cu in (5.7-litre) L-head Flathead V8. For 1941, this engine produced approximately 150 hp, using a side-valve layout prized for its smooth, relaxed delivery. It represents an important chapter in Cadillac engineering, at a time when the marque consolidated its passenger-car range around this V8 architecture.

Paired here with a 3-speed manual transmission, this Sedanette offers a particularly engaging connection to the driving experience of its era. In 1941, Cadillac also introduced the optional Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, making this period especially interesting to enthusiasts of American automotive engineering.
