Under the hood remains the original LS5 454ci big-block V8, but this is far from a stock 454. The engine has been significantly upgraded with an Edelbrock Total Power Package Big-Block Chevy Top-End Kit, rated at 540 horsepower, along with a Holley Sniper EFI Super Sniper electronic fuel-injection system.
The result is a 454 that retains the character and thunderous presence of a classic big-block while delivering considerably stronger performance, crisp throttle response, and improved everyday drivability.
Originally equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, the Chevelle now features a 5-speed manual gearbox—a carefully chosen upgrade that better complements the increased output of the modified LS5 while adding a more relaxed cruising gear for longer drives and highway use.
