2026 Paris Motor Show: new models expected in Luxembourg

The 2026 Paris Motor Show brings together more than 60 brands from 12 to 18 October in Paris. Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Skoda, which are among the best-selling in Luxembourg, are showcasing models there that are expected to arrive between late 2026 and 2027. BMW and Mini are missing, and the Citroën The 2 CV remains a concept planned for 2028.
For a motorist planning to change cars in the coming months, the challenge is to distinguish between models that will soon be available to order and prototypes previewing models for 2028 and beyond.
Where and when is the 2026 Paris Motor Show taking place?
According to the official practical information about the exhibition, the 2026 Paris Motor Show will take place from 12 to 18 October 2026 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, in the 15th arrondissement. The show will be open to accredited press on Monday 12 October, before welcoming the general public from Tuesday 13 to Sunday 18 October.
This 91st edition does indeed mark the return of the major car manufacturers. More than 60 car brands have confirmed their attendance, compared with 48 in 2024 and 20 in 2022, according to the survey by the *Journal de l’Automobile*. Furthermore, Stellantis is showcasing eight brands, whilst Mercedes-Benz, Smart and Volvo are returning to Paris for the first time since 2014.
The stands are located in Halls 4, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 6 and 7.1. Finally, Pavilion 7 houses a test area which is directly accessible from car park P7.
Key new standard features to note for Luxembourg
In Luxembourg, Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Skoda occupy the top five places in new car registrations in 2025, according to the SNCA figures analysed by Luxauto. The BMW X1the Volkswagen Golf, the Mercedes GLCon Volkswagen Tiguan and the’Audi A3 are also among the most commonly registered models. The new models from these makes are therefore of direct interest to buyers in Luxembourg.
Volkswagen and Škoda: electric power comes to family cars
The Volkswagen ID. The Tiguan takes its name from one of the best-selling SUVs in Luxembourg. Unveiled as a world premiere in Paris, this 100 % electric SUV succeeds the ID.4 and ID.5 and will be launched in early 2027. However, the petrol and hybrid Tiguan models will remain in the range.
Volkswagen is also exhibiting the ID. Polo, an electric city car due to be launched in 2026, the compact ID. Cross SUV and the ID.3 GTI. For its part, Škoda is unveiling the Epiq, a compact electric SUV, as well as the Peaq, a 5.07-metre electric SUV that seats up to seven people.
Audi: the A2 e-tron and a revamped A3 Sportback
Audi unveiled the A2 e-tron on 7 September 2026 in Paris. This 4.32-metre-long, 100 % all-electric compact car thus takes its name from the A2 produced between 1999 and 2005. Audi manufactures it in Ingolstadt and plans to launch it in Europe from late 2026.
Furthermore, the’A3 The Sportback, one of the best-selling models in Luxembourg, is getting a new interior to mark its 30th anniversary. Audi is also showcasing the Q4 e-tron revamped, the third generation of the Q7 and the RS5, Audi Sport’s first plug-in hybrid model.
Mercedes-Benz: a multi-energy GLA and an electric C-Class
The third generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLA replaces both the GLA and the’EQA. Mercedes is initially launching it as the 100 % electric model, before adding 48 V hybrid versions in early 2027.
Mercedes-Benz is also unveiling the new Class C electric, the GLE the restyled model and the VLE, an electric van that succeeds the’EQV. Furthermore, the new GLC and GLB, which were recently unveiled, complete the stand.
From city cars to family SUVs: other new production models
The Renault Mégane The restyled E-Tech, unveiled in June 2026, and the Dacia Spring Second-generation models are making their first public appearance. Dacia assembles this new Spring, a 3.85-metre electric city car, in Slovenia based on the Renault Twingo E-Tech. The brand has, in fact, been taking orders in France since 8 September 2026.
Hyundai shows the electric crossover Ioniq 3, the new one Tucson and the Bayon, while Kia showcases the compact SUV Seltos. Volvo, back after a twelve-year hiatus, is unveiling the EX60 electric SUV as well as a new plug-in hybrid version of the XC60. Finally, Ford, registrations of which rose sharply in Luxembourg in 2025, highlights in particular the Puma Gen-E and the’Explore.
Hybrids and plug-in hybrids remain well represented
However, the motor show is not limited to electric vehicles. For example, Lynk & Co presents the 07 GT, a plug-in hybrid due to be launched in 2027, and Geely the Monjaro EM-i, a D-segment hybrid SUV. Similarly, the DS The No. 7 is available as an electric and a mild-hybrid model, the Lancia Gamma as an electric and hybrid model.
BMW and Mini were absent from the motor show
However, BMW and Mini have decided not to take part in the 2026 Paris Motor Show, a decision announced in July following a review of the group’s financial targets. As the second-largest car brand in Luxembourg in 2025, BMW will therefore not be showcasing the models from its new Neue Klasse electric range in Paris, as the’iX3.
Concepts: what they’re promising for the coming years
A concept car is a prototype displayed at motor shows to showcase a particular design or technology. It is not available to order, and its production version, if one exists, usually appears several years later.
The Citroën 2 CV Concept is one of the stars of the show. This 3.76-metre-long all-electric 100 % prototype reinterprets the 2 CV, which was unveiled at the same Paris motor show in 1948. Citroën has announced a production model for 2028, with a target starting price of around 15,000 euros in France. However, the brand has not yet disclosed any prices for Luxembourg.
Peugeot is, for its part, showcasing two electric concepts. The E-T16 Concept pays homage to the 1980s 205 Turbo 16 and foreshadows the styling of the future E-208, although no production version has been announced. The RCZ Vision, for its part, is a reimagining of the RCZ coupé sold between 2009 and 2015.
Renault presents the R8 Gordini Concept and a concept inspired by the’Space from 1984. Opel, Fiat, DS and Alfa Romeo also showcase design studies. For anyone planning to buy in the coming months, these prototypes therefore point the way forward, rather than representing an available product.

Electric cars, Chinese brands, hybrids: the trends at the motor show
The 2026 Paris Motor Show confirms the growing presence of Chinese car manufacturers in Europe: nearly 20 Chinese brands are exhibiting, compared with 9 in 2024. BYD, Chery, Forthing, Foton, GAC, Geely, Leapmotor, Lynk & Co, XPeng and Zeekr are among them.
These brands are focusing equally on plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles. Chery is showcasing its Tiggo hybrid SUVs, BYD its DM-i models, and Zeekr the 9X, a large plug-in hybrid SUV.
In Luxembourg, these developments are taking place in a market that is already divided between several types of powertrain. Indeed, in 2025, electric cars accounted for 26.9 % of new registrations and hybrids for 29.3 %, according to the SNCA figures presented at the last Autofestival in January 2026. Our guide to understanding the differences between standard hybrids and plug-in hybrids also helps to clarify where these models fit in.
Our partner Autéra Group is already on sale in Luxembourg Forthing and Foton, two brands on display in Hall 7.1 at the Mondial. Based in Strassen, this official distributor also represents the brand BAIC. It also claims to have a network of 21 outlets, which it plans to develop in the Benelux region before expanding into the French areas bordering Luxembourg.
Forthing, a brand of the group Dongfeng, launched its operations in Europe in 2022. Already established in Germany and Italy, Forthing is set to enter three new European markets in 2026, including France. In Paris, the brand is showcasing, in particular, the TK5 urban SUV – available in both electric and plug-in hybrid versions – as well as the TK7 plug-in hybrid family SUV. Finally, a V9 plug-in hybrid people carrier fitted out for camping rounds off the stand, where Autéra Group is representing Forthing as its Benelux partner.
Foton, a commercial vehicle manufacturer founded in 1996 and part of the BAIC Group, is showcasing two electric models for business users: the Cavan C1 van and the e-Aumark lorry. In Luxembourg, Autéra offers, amongst other things, pick-up trucks Foton Tunland and several Forthing models, which can be seen amongst the Autéra adverts on Luxauto.
Luxauto’s view: how the motor show is changing things for buyers in Luxembourg
For anyone planning to buy a car in the coming months, the 2026 Paris Motor Show mainly affects the timetable, not the current range of models. In fact, the new production models will not arrive at Luxembourg dealerships until the end of 2026, and the manufacturers will not be bringing any of the concepts on display to market before 2028.
Furthermore, the launch of a new model can affect the value of the versions it replaces. The Volkswagen ID.4, the Mercedes-Benz EQA and the pre-facelift Mégane E-Tech, for example, are still available, particularly on the second-hand market. These models therefore warrant careful comparison with their successors.
However, brands that have recently entered the European market require further verification. Before choosing a model you’ve spotted in Paris, check in particular whether there is a distributor or an authorised service centre, and what the warranty terms are in Luxembourg or the Greater Region.
Ultimately, the best starting point is real-world use. For example, a cross-border commuter who travels long distances every day has different needs to a driver who mainly drives in town. Their daily journeys therefore influence the choice of engine far more than the claims made at a motor show.

This increase was largely driven by the return of car manufacturers, with the number of brands rising from 20 in 2022 to 48 in 2024. As yet, the organisers have not released the attendance figures for the 2026 edition.
Should you wait until the Autofestival to buy a new model from the Paris Motor Show in Luxembourg?
The Autofestival, organised annually between late January and early February by Fedamo at car dealerships across Luxembourg, traditionally focuses on new cars. The 2027 edition is expected to take place in late January, although no official dates have been announced as yet. However, buyers will only be able to purchase a new model from the Paris Motor Show if the importer has already launched it in Luxembourg. Concept cars, such as the Citroën 2 CV, will therefore not be on sale.
How can I find out if a model on display at the Paris Motor Show is available in Luxembourg?
The website of the brand’s importer in Luxembourg, or an authorised dealer, confirms the availability of a model, delivery times and local prices. On Luxauto, a search by make and model also shows whether any Luxembourg garages are already offering that model for sale. However, the absence of a listing does not mean that the importer will discontinue the model: it simply indicates that no garage is currently offering it.
